Our Roots: Built on Hard Work and Real Construction Experience

Our design-build company was founded by Nick Alla, who was born in Elbasan, Albania. His early years were modest but happy, and it was there that he developed a love of building and understanding how things worked. His childhood, especially the influence of his older brother, a doctor, helped shape the values he carries into the business today: honesty, hard work, integrity, and education.

As he grew older, he realized he needed a change. In October 2008, at the age of 21, he moved to Canada. At first, life on another continent was challenging. He had to adjust to a new culture, overcome language barriers, endure the jarring bitter winters, and being far away from his family. During this time, a Canadian family took him under their wing. He has always remained grateful for their support. Now settled, Nick’s career in Canada began with hands-on work in general construction.

From Construction Experience to a Full Design Build Company

As he continued developing his practical construction experience, Nick expanded his knowledge through formal training and certifications in real estate and business.

After a number of years in Canada, Nick began to notice that many families had a vision for their home, but not a clear process for getting there. Over time, he formed a plan to develop a more transparent, organized, and reassuring custom home building process: to combine design coordination, planning, permits, budgeting, and construction under one company.

Nick took his time carefully setting up a team, securing investment, and conducting dedicated market research. It took hard work, discipline, and perseverance, but by 2018, he was ready, and NICKS Developments was born.

Now based in Etobicoke, Ontario, Nick has established himself as a trusted custom home builder within the Greater Toronto Area. I feel so lucky I stumbled across Nicks Developments. I contacted him to ask about the process of custom home building and pricing. On that call I told him we haven’t sold our current house yet. The same day, he came over to look at our house and gave a quote for the work that he thought needed to be done. I am so pleased with the renovations he did to get our house ready to sell. To my surprise he has a real estate team as well which has made this whole process so easy only having to deal with one person. He really worked hard to make sure we were happy.
